Vault for Linux
Native C++ application
A real desktop password manager — written in C++ with Qt6 and libsodium. Not a browser, not Electron: it launches straight from your apps menu and runs fully offline.
Everything is local and open source — your master password never leaves the device.
Build & install
Three commands on Ubuntu / Kubuntu:
$cd desktop$./build.sh --install-deps # first time only$./build.sh # → build/valut.deb
Or, if you downloaded the .deb from the button above:
$sudo apt install ./valut.deb
After installing, launch “Vault” from your apps menu or run saleh-vault.
How the encryption works
- 1
Argon2id stretches your password into a 256-bit key.
- 2
An optional keyfile is folded in via BLAKE2b.
- 3
The vault is sealed with XChaCha20-Poly1305.
- 4
The header is authenticated as AAD — tampering fails.
